Canoelands Orchard – Schools

Students will love their visit to Canoelands Orchard!

A day full of great experiences including bee presentations, tractor rides, fruit picking, animal petting, seed planting and Aboriginal hand painting.

“The students were really engaged in the activities provided. They were purposeful, interactive and aligned with our Science and Geography curriculum.  Students were able to observe the importance of cultivating the land to provide food and how people, animals and land interact with each other for survival.  Students were able to make connections with processes and how our fruit and honey is processed from paddock to plate.  We love the way students were involved and exposed to real life processes and were able to participate in a tractor ride, feeding the animals, fruit picking, packaging and distribution, honey bee making and much more.  We will definitely recommend this excursion to others and we loved that we were greeted with passionate farmers like Jamie who was able to bring the farming life to life for our students.  The whole process of booking the excursion, to attending the excursion was made easy for us with the support of Kristina at Fun Day Out.  Thank you and I’m sure many of our families would be visiting your farm very soon :-).”

Facilitator Profile

The love and care shown by the Christie family during your Canoelands Orchard excursion is what makes your visit unforgettable.

Now in their third generation, the Christie’s are as passionate as ever about creating quality farm produce and making ‘farm life’ accessible to everyone.

As co-owner Jamie explains, “We want everyone to know more about where their food comes from, to have the opportunity to eat fruit straight from the trees and taste the difference.  Children particularly are always amazed by the flavour.”

In a world where children are consumed by technology and instant gratification, the relaxed pace of the farm is a perfect opportunity for all ages to take a moment to reflect on how the food they consume gets to their tables.
