Follow our Wattle babies on their journey to become blossoms.
In this hands-on outdoor session, children explore the fascinating journey of a Wattle seed, discovering how seeds are stored, released and carried through the environment by wind, animals and fire. They’ll learn why some Australian plants, like Wattle, need scarring to release their seeds, others may need fire or smoke and how different plants have developed clever ways to travel and survive.
Along the way, they’ll explore the park to spot seeds and seed pods, take part in an interactive challenge to design and build their own seed-travelling solutions.
At the end of the program, children will propagate paper daisies to take home and grow.
A creative, hands-on exploration of how plants move, adapt and regenerate – and the incredible journey of a single seed.
