In this engaging workshop, children will explore the beauty of Australia’s native flora, fauna, and Indigenous culture through three hands-on activities.
Bush Banksia Creative Experience
Children use natural materials like gum leaves, shells, seeds, and natural fibres to craft unique figures inspired by native animals and bush landscapes. This tactile activity nurtures creativity, environmental awareness, and a love for our diverse wildlife.
Gum Leaf Storytelling Art
In this activity, children will have the opportunity to tell their own stories through art, using gum leaves as their canvas. They can share places they admire, habitats they connect with, and animals they feel drawn to. Indigenous symbols will be used also to enhance their understanding of indigenous culture and the significance of certain symbols in representing various aspects of nature, identity, and storytelling. This activity provides an engaging way to learn about the interconnectedness of culture, nature, and art.
Traditional Dance
The experience ends with a Traditional Indigenous Dance session, where children will learn simple movements and rhythms, celebrating culture through music and movement.
Together, these activities foster creativity, cultural awareness, and respect for the land in a fun and meaningful way.
